When making an axe handle the pattern is not far off.
In the news is the death of Becky Zerlentes, a female boxer, who was fighter her last match (literally) prior to her retirement. The death should give us pause to rethink this maddening trend of expanding boxing and other violent sports to include women. Instead, we should be moving in the opposite direction--getting rid of violent sports all together. The idea of boxing, after all, is to give your opponent such a blow that he/she passes out! This is one step up from lions fighting slaves in the colloseum. Sports should be activities that have beauty and promote health--not an opportunity to get a concussion (or get killed).
